EnpaxThere are liberal Asians who do in fact campaign for black rights. I mean you could think it’s not enough, but at the same time you could say the few black people defending aren’t enough either. I just dont think it’s fair to act like black people have had Asians backs and Asians just backstabbed us. The mutual distrust goes back for a couple decades

The fact that white people allowed Asians economic opportunities early on that they didn’t give blacks people. This created a gap in wealth and income to a point where Asians don’t empathize with black people like a lot of hispanics do, as they often were forced into the same ghettos as African americans

Could you name some of these economic opportunities handed to Asians? I definitely didn’t learn about this in school

It’s not so much “handed” as it is denied to black people. Under segregation, black people were confined into living in certain areas with lower education budgets and were generally less likely to be hired for a job they’re qualified for if competing with a white person (which they still are in many circumstances). Asians were not often denied housing or attendance in schools with actual funding.
There’s a similar situation with Italians and Irish. Back in the day they weren’t considered white, so they were discriminated against and left behind by the rest of white america. This lead to both groups having a criminal subculture tied to lack of education and poverty rates. However, white Americans eventually accepted them as their own and now they’re mostly indistinguishable from the rest of white society
After black people were forced into situations that lent themselves to poverty, their criminal subculture permeated even further than other groups had, so now blackness has become associated with criminality, which further gave white people the chance to say “look we can’t let them live with us, they’re dangerous” perpetuating the cycle.
While Asians were discriminated against, white peoples eventually got over it and let them have opportunities before the civil rights era that black people didn’t have. If black people had just been integrated into society back then there wouldn’t be such a gap in achievement as there is now
