It's the feedback loop of gentrification. The community (NOT the landlord) wants to improve the neighborhood for the good of its denizens, but the corporations improving the neighborhood comes with the increase of property values and thus working-class displacement. I've seen this happen slowly in many southside neighborhoods.

"Affordable housing" is smoke and mirrors, the policies folks have to advocate for is complete rent control, public housing, and the eventual social ownership of real estate.

I hope the price isn’t so far off that it make it impossible but if it’s not, I hope this the route they choose to take. Cause if the college get a hold of o block it’s over with. I just don’t see any positives coming from that.
