in all srsness, government do all this and displacing all these people everywhere just to turn around and blame these same people for being violent instead of trying to fix the problem.
I can't understand for the life of me why in order to suddenly improve a neighborhood, you gotta kick the niggas out to do it.
(I mean I understand why they do it obviously.)
Durk isn’t from O Block
The only popular rapper that’s still alive from O Block is Keef
muwop, he's not very good though
muwop, he's not very good though
Yeah on a much smaller scale
But he does have a reputation, so I could see him getting a lot bigger but he needs to get better first

Congress as currently constructed is not fast enough to create any meaningful policy change to help those in poverty stricken areas
I don’t even want to think about the amount of years it would take to dismantle racist d*** laws, restructure taxes to better fund schools, create employment pipelines in low income communities, create affordable housing that doesn’t devolve into shanty towns, etc.
A lot easier to just corpo leasing companies buy up property and price out the undesirables
Any Chicago natives wanna shed light on the ramifications? From what I’ve seen seems like people think this might lead to another war, what with people displaced and forced to move to new areas
can an individual just kick people out of their houses though? i thought only the government has the ability to do that and not face consequences for it

Usually in the form of a professionally managed leasing company buying the property and renovating/pricing people out as the surrounding area increases in property value
Boy that rent about to be $1750 for a one bedroom and no in unit laundry. It happens every time
On god, over charging for a crib with the design of an 80s apartment. That’s how Hyde park be moving lmao they want an arm and leg for an apartment with no w/d and still got them fat ass radiators lol.
Would be cool but iirc to buy it, it’s up there in the tens of millions. Could be cap tho since I got it from an unverified source.

Couldn’t him and some other artists put together an ownership group?

Yea wasn't Polo G talking about buying O Block?
It's the feedback loop of gentrification. The community (NOT the landlord) wants to improve the neighborhood for the good of its denizens, but the corporations improving the neighborhood comes with the increase of property values and thus working-class displacement. I've seen this happen slowly in many southside neighborhoods.
"Affordable housing" is smoke and mirrors, the policies folks have to advocate for is complete rent control, public housing, and the eventual social ownership of real estate.

I hope the price isn’t so far off that it make it impossible but if it’s not, I hope this the route they choose to take. Cause if the college get a hold of o block it’s over with. I just don’t see any positives coming from that.
He has the Drake features money ready

Guarantee O Block will get gentrified within the next 5 years. Just like every other hood in America

durk is like around normal, idt he said which block he was from, but they not that far
In LA everyone in the hood moved to Vegas, Atlanta, Arizona. Where do Chicago folks go after gentrification takes place?

Well they wouldn’t have to pay all at once right? I’m assuming they have the standing and down payment o get a mortgage on it and honestly it might make them more in the long run
Then again I don’t know s*** about s*** with their finances lol
