I know there’s a thread about Kanye’s 2nd verse on Off the Grid but I’ve been thinking a lot about the statement from someone in Manson’s camp made about him “working conceptually” on the DONDA project.
I think Kanye mixed his personal life with other people’s stories to make a comment on modern celebrity life very similar to “Blood on the Leaves”
I’ve been listening to Manson since 99 and I’ve been listening to Kanye since 05 & the verse sounds fresh off of the excitement of Fivio’s verse and a long sit down with Manson; blended with pieces of Kanye’s own struggles & divorce issues.
“She put my paintings inside of her living room
Look at the problems and issues I'm livin' through
They tryna drown me, I rise to my pinnacle”
It’s wild how Kanye can take pieces of pop culture and real life (the good bad and ugly) & use those pieces to create these huge art collaborations.

I didn’t want to be mean
I mean instead of talking s***, please explain to me how those lines aren’t congruently consistent with the relationship that put him in this position
Kanye isn’t talking about his paintings...

Look I’m 32 years old, and have been going to rock shows since I was 10... there are lines in the verse that clearly reflect the relationships he was in during the album cycles these allegations came from.
I’m not defending anyone I’m just saying they spent a lot of free time painting, and Kanye brought him out on during that song. It lines up.
… First it go viral, then they get digital
Then they get critical, no, I'm not doin' no interview
Mask on my face, you can't see what I'm finna do
Had to move away from people that's miserable
Don't wanna link you, I ain't finna sit with you
Ain't finna talk to you, ain't finna get with you
Don't get me mad just 'cause I don't wanna injure you
and these lines
Drop me the low and then that's where I'll send it to
I was forgettin' you, now I remember, now I remember
Did what I want, and I say what I want
And I thought you was with me, like how you get sensitive?
Lines up with Kanye’s experience, Manson’s experience and pretty much any listener in certain ways as you grow and move away from people in your life.
Kanye wasn’t the basketball player he created “Blood on the Leaves” about but he can relate to the feelings the story evokes, as do the listeners.
TLDR: The point I was trying to make is that I love how when Kanye actually writes his full verses they tend to take on very personal & abstract stories at the same time.
How is it a reach when he brought the man out for the song and the place the allegations took place was literally where the paintings were painted?
Kanye fans are literally the smartest and dumbest people combined.

I ain't disagree I was kind of shocked reading it

you're too serious about it
seems like an oddly specific relation you're tryna make for such a basic line
feel like you just are relating the lines to Marilyn (which can be plausible sure) and labeling it as "Marilyn Manson influence" ?? why is it his influence
None of this seems inspired you just made a connection which doesn't even hone in on just Manson. Pretty much how Kanye has written much of his career with lines that may or may not be about him but relate to many
Any other proof other than that line? Kanye has made paintings too
the line isn't even much of an example either. that's not a living room in those photos he linked its an art gallery
and then the lines after that are not specific at all. it would be one thing if Kanye brought him out just for this or he was on the song but nope he was out for the whole thing
wtf is this thread man
