I mean, first things first: wow, what an album, right? I think it’s fair to say it’s up there among the best debut albums of all time. Love or hate the man, I don’t think the brilliance of this record can be denied. We Don’t Care, All Falls Down, Jesus Walks, Never Let Me Down, Slow Jamz, Lil Jimmy Skit, Through The Wire, Family Business & Last Call. What’s not to love? Fantastic for the soul. Thoughts? Thank you, come again.

I still remember the day it came out. I grabbed the CD in my local store and listened to it for several hours driving into the sunrise with my wife. I didnt know what to expect at first since I have barely heard from this up and coming artist Mr Kanye West yet. Felt like surreal moment. At the time I have never heard something even close to the excellence of All Falls Down, spaceship or we dont care but when jesus is walks came on I knew I would be Kanye West fan for life. Looking back it has been amazing how far it has become and I couldnt be more grateful to be able to follow Ye´s journey. Going to massive success with Graduation just to throw it all away and releasing 808s an album based of pure emotion of sadness. The infamous VMA stunt with Taylor I was watching that live not knowing that he would soon drop the greatest musical achievement of all time.

Everything started with College dropout. DAMN

This is beautiful to read, thank you for sharing. And here you still are, exactly 17 years later! A record that truly unified the nation.

    Classic album
Some of Kanye's strongest songwriting and song concepts in general ever
    What started it all!

Damn here I am lost in the Kanye West sxn looking for an official college dropout gang chat. When suddenly the universe answers my prayers. Amazing album, one of the (if not the) best debuts of all time. Of all time. I’m glad there’s a thread that unifies us as fans.

i remember when this came out, i was 12 and my grandfather had to go in and buy it for me because of the parental advisory sticker and i was too young so funny thinking about an old guy going in to buy that album. wonder what the cashier must have thought (he also had to go in and buy The Massacre for me like a year later also but that’s another story LMAO. what a gem of a human for doing that for me)

that album means so much to me. it reminds me of simpler times going on trips with my grandparents, listening to the cd in the back seat of their car, just in awe of how f***ing good it was

i remember absolutely loving all falls down, and spaceship and school spirit helped me get over how much i f***ing hated school and helped me feel better about myself

literally so many memories associated with this album. too many list. i could write for hours

thank you kanye for release this amazing album. what a timeless classic

i remember in 2015 when this album came out and i had just got done listening to "808s and heartbreaks" by kanye west i was like whoa what does this guy got under his sleeve next. that was right after i was wow'd by mbdtf and started to listen to rap music (other than Eminem the GOAT) for real fr. i listened to this album and thought it was pretty cool but why so many skits?
