given current events i think it's vital that people are reminded that arguments/discourse NEEDS to be over distinct ideas and concepts rather than disconnected syllogistic terminologies. Part of what has allowed conspiracy-culture to get out of hand is that people are arguing over words that don't mean anything. As much as I love JRE for example, people like Peterson using JRE to incorrectly disperse a meaning of post-modernism or marxism that isn't actually accurate has made actual debate over such theories futile. There is a lot of discourse to be had in deeper arguments over concepts such as Marxism, Fascism, Liberalism, etc. - the issue is that we aren't arguing over defined terms anymore, we're largely arguing over symbolic representations of terms assigned to disconnected, temporal cultural concepts. While I get no one wants to sit down and read 1000 pages of theory just to argue about something, we're reaching a point where the lack of distinguished conceptual discourse is essentially allowing elites and conglomerates to fully control conversation. like literally, it's actually frightening to think about.
