    Not claimed mine yet

Waiting to see how high it goes then cash it out immediately so I won't pay capital gains

true but that raises your income so your still paying taxes and then you can't get a long term rate

if you wanna sell it all though before September it doesn't matter anyways

in the US it makes more sense to claim it when it's at the lowest point and hold it for 12 months and hope it doesn't fall lol

    how so

Capital gains set in once its claimed

If i claim it now, any increase in price since the price of claiming it would be considered as part of capital gains

    US?

Looks like in the US you pay ordinary income taxes on the FMV of when you claim the air drop? So if its $5 for 100 coins. You pay ordinary income taxes on $500.

Uk but its probably the same for the us in terms of cgt rules

But since the us also considers it income its better to claim it the lower the price
