I can do that but he also said at this pace a small farm may be anything than than a petabyte soon

More information on pooling is coming out this Friday. Unless you anticipate spending a decent amount of capital on hard drives and setup, the pools might be the best route.
Also depends on what you have on hand already. Some of us were able to start right away, some others like myself had to order some parts to plot at an acceptable speed.
Also the networks almost 10x the size as it was when we started in here lol
