Crazy how poor the Pow chains perform vs btc

Eth one of the only exceptions

I’m surprised there isn’t more demand for some even as a hedge considering POS is still untested w hundreds of billions of $

Btc & eth have shown the robustness & censorship resistance of pow.

worse smart contract performance and there have been 10s of billions locked in PoS chains this year with no more issues than ETH has

don't think 98% of people really care tho honestly right now about security lol

    maybe that changes someday

also I think PoW is overrated for it's security, some PoS now use a tiny amount of vaildators but that can be changed it's really just that way for better performance

China formerly controlling a lot of Hashpower makes it almost seem like a super light weight client that can run a Raspberry Pi might be more censorship resistant than massive GPU farms

the PoS consensus mechanism used on ETH PoS is tested extensively by researchers as having 51% security like PoW, which imo makes it harder to control the supply than buying a bunch of GPUs

buying 51% of the supply of ETH would make the price insane and it would seem almost impossible, like if a nation wanted to control Bitcoin they could with enough ASICs/ GPUs

the better Lindy PoS chains get the less anyone will care for PoW imo

I read vitalik's blog about and copy his opinion

no but seriously I find the arguments convincing lol

I've already told you this before but imo sharding has far more complex issues than PoS and could bring major security issues to ETH.. it's a less tested idea

Elrond and Harmony are the only ones using it and there designs are far more limited than what ETH2 wants to do, sharding 64 different pieces is like making 64 chains and then connecting them all together and hoping it all plays nice

even one shard acting up could cause down time / exploited funds for the whole network in theory

I guess time will tell though I know a lot BTC / ETC type people think it's an insane thing to say PoW isn't the best thing ever tho

Sharding is the reason ETH2 has been delayed for years

Sharding was suppose to always happen before PoS but it kept pushing back PoS and now Zk-rollups seem like a better temporary solution so a change was made to the roadmap

I would bet we may not see sharding till 2023 at least, 2022 seems far too optimistic

    FTM going again

Isn’t fantom even more centralized than Solana tho?

    yeah probably lol

even less vaildators, they have pretty similar requirements for staking and hardware

it's funny people say 32 ETH is a lot but then you need $1.2m+ to validate blocks on Sol or Ftm

people get confused the difference between a node and a validator but Solana also initially makes it that way

The time to buy AMC was when it was $2.50 last year, you'd have made a bit of money even if you sold when it hit $10+. ETH is a long term hold.

ADA I can imagine there's money to be made capitalising off of people's hype but that's the same s*** as meme coins so if you're playing that game only put in money that won't hurt you if you lose it

If you're like me and you've got zero experience day trading then either play with small amounts or, like me, leave that s*** alone. The good folks in here always tell people to DCA and buy dips and that has made me a few extra ££££ over the past year.
