yes it saves time and energy

the energy saved means that zk-rollups can handle 10x the transactions per second vs an optimistic rollup
also the fees are 10x-50x lower

the time saved means you can withdraw from a zk-rollup to mainnet ethereum instantly

optimistic rollups use fraud proofs that have a 7 day lockup period on all withdrawals and the cost to withdrawal depends heavily on how many other people are leaving
