Wall Street generally sucks at forecasting the opening price range of an IPO. Not sure if it's because of lack of interest or if it's indicative of a bigger problem.

its not wall street lol. The company prices themselves based on valuation(revenues, assets, ebitda, etc) and that's where that stock price comes from. The reason some IPO's double is because people simply bid them up that high. The "high demand" translates to a much higher actual trading price than the valuation price. Also, large institutions can get their hands on the cheaper shares which also drives up that demand of the lower float.
