also the electoral college can be won with 11 states lol
Ive wanted to ask this whenever I see this stuff cause Im curious on the topic but what happens to the black vote if we go that way?.
Like part of our community gets any attention especially from democrats is because we're in those smaller states and can help swing.
In the event of switching to this majority rules thing where do we factor in as a voting bloc?.
Or am I misunderstand how it would work because people seem to say it'll make NY and Cali the most important voting areas right? Or is this cap?

copying and pasting my post from earlier
it was a compromise made forever ago. every state gets 2 votes + votes depending on population. Was a way to make it so each individual state had say, while also giving more power to the more populous states. Otherwise, why be the "united states" if the smaller states didn't get a say?
Problem is, the "votes depending on population" hasn't scaled to what the actual populations have grown to, and now a vote in Alaska counts more than a vote in Texas. Too many states, and the republican party, benefit from this system to have it changed. A change on this would require much more support to accomplish.
So what we would need to have change, is for Texas to go blue. If the 2 most populous states are blue than the republicans would be f***ed and would have to cede to try something else.
