but even then it was obvious that his policies, even as middle-of-the-ground as they were, were extremely unpopular in a sizeable chunk of the country, enough that one of trump's presidential themes is basiacally just "fuck obama!!!"
i feel the needlepoint of the whole nation will slowly shift more progressivit is a step in the process of abolition lol. the point is to defund the police, say by 25-30%, allocate the funds towards social services. you keep educating the people, watching the crime drop etc., they begin to realize that the role of police is not safety, you defund them even more, and get to the point of abolition. so yes, defunding the police means abolishing the police.
