Still. Talibans aren't stupid. We have social media today. The times are different.
Everything they are doing right now is calculated and planned. Once every single person has left this country, they will really start enforcing their rules and will also execute and harm people (probably started it already outside of Kabul).
Why can't they do that now? What do you think is stopping them right now?
Taliban ain't putting up no act
The world knows they're savages
They're not going to "pretend" because they dont need to.
They already got what they wanted. No one is changing that, no matter what policies they enforce.
I assume this govt will be very similar to Iran.
The Taliban has already very slightly liberalized since their original rule in the 90s, and its not just because of tech existing now which did not exist then. They now allow music, dancing, phones, internet, photos/cameras, they conduct interviews with female reporters and allow themselves to be filmed, they have a government structure now modeled after other global governments, they are no longer vehemently anti-Shia/Hazara, and many other things. This isn't to say they aren't still fundamentalists with dangerous ideas, but this isn't the same Taliban as the 90s, modernity has also effected them greatly. It doesn't matter if you actually believe what they're saying or not - the fact they're even uttering the words that they will not engage in forced marriage or full subjugation of women is a huge distinction in and of itself that they aren't as radically primitive or fundamentalist like they were in their past iterations.
Ur countrys leaders knew s*** was unwinnable for a long time too

Idk why this story was swept under the rug like that but it's literally documented that they just blatantly lied and it's been available to the public for 2 yrs now
when was this originally released?

I understand
Taliban is still the taliban and I think the locals are okay as well. The western media is definitely blowing things out of proportion (ie: every female is going to get stoned, raped, no one is safe etc etc

"The western media is definitely blowing things out of proportion"? "No one is safe"?
I think you got it wrong. It was never really safe in Afghanistan. We have to see if that changes in the near future and then we can say whether the Taliban are 100% serious about it or not.

It wasn’t safe because of US’s presence
It wasn’t safe because of US’s presence
So you think it was safe before 2001?
So you think it was safe before 2001?
US had a presence there before 2001
US had a presence there before 2001
I know, I mean when the Taliban ruled the country
They literally in the streets wishin death on my country. B**** we smokin that taliban pack all 2022.

I know, I mean when the Taliban ruled the country
it was better than how it is now
US had a presence there before 2001
Country has been war torn for a very long time
I can't tell you how safe it was back then honestly
But I do believe it will be safer now that the US is gone (because there's no need for any conflict anymore)
Bro, maybe someone from Afghanistan can comment on this but I truly believe most of the locals are okay with taliban taking over and prefer it over any US/Western interference

"Staffers carried out the interviews between 2014 and 2018, mostly with officials who served during the Bush and Obama years."
