NortDo i have to start my scale on the 8th fret every time? Because the way he’s demonstrated:
He picks a key, chooses one of the modes (idk how he chooses them) then runs through, brings his hand down, and runs through either the same scale or a different one, and continues this until he’s reached the end of the fret board.
i don’t understand how that’s supposed to work
no you don't cause the root of the scale is placed differently in each mode (as pinpointed as the white notes in your picture). So with C it could start from 8th on E or 3rd on A, 10th on D, etc.
I honestly rely too much on blues scale cause its simple and easy to branch out off
The thing that's confusing me is from where are u supposed to play the phrygian scale because the root on the A string wouldn't make sense for C.dammit Nort why do u got me theorizing s*** like this RN!

do these “positions” only apply to certain parts of the neck? Like if I go through position 1 up top, do i gotta go into position 2 then after to proceed down the fret board?
