listening
yeah, recorded a few months before he died. if you are open to that then Id listen to Ascension. my favorite album by him, not as crazy as that live album but still free jazz. true mind expanding music
my favorite thing about Coltrane is his career arc. starting with kind of blue/blue train type of music and then expanding into modal s*** and the spiritual awakening, and then ending with batshit insane chaotic free jazz as the final step

yeah, ill check it out. you got me curious.
have you ever tried pretending the instruments are saying things
This is the only way I can make a little melody I like for my own music
Music with no words just doesn't hit

yeah, ill check it out. you got me curious.
Ascension also got Pharoah Sanders on it if you ever listened to him before
you fw Monk at all?
what happen
Just catching up on the thread
I could never call this bad, the beat is decent, and he’s definitely saying a lot here.
I don’t think id feel compelled to hear it again though.

Briefly heard some sanders before, and i think monk is amazing. Spectacular even.
Also a lot of this is too upbeat for me
I enjoy the like slow pretty parts
Then Immediately get bored when they get started like really going
This is jazz right
!https://youtu.be/e2w-LsVSw70maybe. seems more like soul to me. just more outwardly jazzy soul than usual. but pretty borderline between them and thats kinda how it goes with fusiony stuff i guess

Thats true, maybe I just wanna find one you love, but maybe I’m fighting an uphill battle in that regard
Ty for your listening tho

I need some jazz without the fast parts tbh
Just the slow moody parts

monk's compositions are too goated

Find something with an interesting structure. I’ve never been huge on the 3 verses separated by a hook format.

All the fast tooting just bores me to death
