All time classic. Nothing they do can take away from this.
I'd probably go with this for now.

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoGistderf0this sounds great but i have a very hard time enjoying music i can’t understand, i know how close minded that makes me seem but i like being able 2 understand the lyrics.. translating them is such a pain
i know i’m missing out on so much amazing music by having this stupid mindset but yeh :/

what percent of your enjoyment do you think lyrics usually is? for me its like 5%
what percent of your enjoyment do you think lyrics usually is? for me its like 5%
good question, let me think about this
4 me it is a huge part of my enjoyment of music, i grew up on hip hop primarily so learning the lyrics 2 my favorite songs was a huge part of my enjoyment
i write poetry & stuff so lyrics mean so much 2 me, so when i started getting in2 rock music when i got a bit older & more open minded i gravitated towards singer songwriters the most.. so i guess if i had 2 pick a number i’d say it’s like 75% important lol
i can like a song with bad music if the lyrics resonate with me but it’s kinda hard 4 me 2 appreciate a song with good music & bad lyrics

Good lyrics always enhance a song for me but it’s not necessarily a requirement for me to enjoy a song. I’ll still enjoy and respect a song even if it’s not written well as long as the writing isn’t obnoxiously bad.

maybe you wont enjoy led zeppelin much lol. do you grasp the lyrics a lot as you listen or do you read along or what? like when you listen the cure albums for the first time do you really focus on the lyrics?
unless i have the lyrics in front of me its really hard for me to understand 100% of what they are saying unless the singer is incredibly clear. and even then if its not straightforward its not easy to think about the meaning as I'm actually listening
do you like jazz at all or other fully instrumental music?
Idk how y'all do it. The music has to grab me. I don't even have to understand what's being sung lol

with the cure i read the lyrics along with the music, it’s why i love them so freakin much cuz robert is so incredibly poetic, amazing song writer.. i’m amazed by how visceral some of their lyrics are, most of them resonate with me very deeply
i like trying 2 figure out what the lyrics mean as well, i don’t play any instruments so i don’t know a damn thing about what’s being played in what key & all that jazz, so i focus on the lyrics..
& yes i love jazz very much
sometimes knowing the lyrics makes me like it less. its easy for little phrases or word choices to come off as corny to me and make me think of it every time i listen
