also i think its worth mentioning that many of the huge artists like Morgan Wallen aren't really the ones who would appeal to the super rural country folk, like theyd see him as fake country/pop. especially the older ones

i agree w u on the old ppl thing but young people stream music the most. a higher % of the rural population has broadband internet than ever before.

But like back in the 90s janet jackson would drop remix cd’s with 10+ tracks of remixes of the same song

So while I think the methods of changed, the general sentiment has been the same
It’s not like Escapade (Shep’s Good Time Remix) had any effect on Janet’s overall legacy
Those are remixes of singles which has always been a thing, especially in EDM/Dance. When you buy the single, you get remixes with it so you don’t just get one song on a tape. It’s quite different to the current streaming era and selling one version of a song at a time.
