    never

by design country music is never going to appeal to everyone like that. it can still be huge like it was in the 90s with people like Garth Brooks going diamond 9 times but it's always going to be an insular genre that exists in its own world. its how its been for 100 years now and part of why its lasting so long. its not a coincidence that the genres that rose to be the overall king (jazz, rock, etc.) ended up being replaced by something else

I think country going slightly less pop than it has been for decades is a big reason for its current popularity

I feel like if it continues adopting traits from other genres like mentioned and getting this industry/media push we could see it taking the place of hip-hop in movie trailers, commercials, memes etc. in a couple years or so

yes this ties into what i was saying about the 'indie country' movement helping it in the mainstream now. the genre has a huge balance of pop along with the noncommercial stuff and even people like Morgan Wallen can balance both. the best balance the genre had since the 90s

its gonna be interesting to see what the country industry tries to do now that it sees the kids actually want Zach Bryan type music

only way i see that happening is if the fusion with other genres is so much that it's undeniably not even country anymore. but like ET s said we aren't even going through a movement now where all the country is a fusion, this is a swing back towards purer country compared to the period in the 2010s with bro country bringing in more fusion.

more than any other genre i think its instantly associated by people with a certain sound and image. partly due to it being tied to subject matter and accent, neither of which will appeal to people en masse like that. hip hop and rock have so much more flexibility of what you can do

guess what im saying is that a genre based on traditionalism isn't ever gonna have that role. i could be wrong though who knows
