Capitalism is resistant to socialism, because private business owners (small business owners, capitalists, politicians, investors) don’t want to give up social and economic power to the working class as the world continues to change
People have different theories as to how to overcome this. Nort thinks that as normal people gradually adopt new systems of co-op businesses where socialist mechanisms are in the business first, then they will spread upwards
I think that the government and capitalist class will violently enforce capitalism to fight socialism and protect itself, and the working class must organize and violently enforce socialism in its own manner.
This is obviously more complicated than that but it’s the most basic gist
No way you came in to post the thesis you got a C-
So the wants are similar it's just like two different ways that you guys see to end up in the same/a similar place ?
One being a natural like shift based on independent business (what nort wants)
And one being like a more organized fight for making things work how you want it to work (what you want)
???
We want the same thing
One very big thing, probably THE big thing that socialists disagree on is HOW to get to socialism and how to define “getting to socialism”
Some advocate for worldwide revolution and basically constant war until revolution is globally spread
Some think the countryside peasantry should be organized and wage small scale war against the urban elite
Some think the urban industrial workers should directly seize the halls of power
Some think that socialist governments should engage in pragmatic capitalism to collapse their opponents at their own game before progressing their systems
When your political ideology is based on intricate economic mechanics, but also basically has only existed theoretically for 40 years, you get a lot of offshoots that create arguments
Gahdamn your neighbors be getting it in
Underrated
One is peaceful, one is “necessarily bloody and violent”
We’ve seen the result of peaceful protest all around the world, the motivations of Marxist socialists isn’t unfounded

eh. i just don’t have faith in the idea of a vanguard party whatsoever. i don’t see how we could ever expect it to dissolve, or how to avoid the authoritarian aspects of china/ussr.

This makes sense

But you have faith in the ability to like radically change the way things are ran without something like that ?
I think that would be really hard as good as it sounds

i think you can change things but you wont actually end up with communism — atleast not by the definition I was sold on.
