W on seeing him 3 times. Damn it yeah one of the benefits of being an oldhead I was in college

This feels like a Google his uncle joke but it’s actually legit
Family of legends man
I know you produce and have an inspiration, this is mine
I hear what you're saying but I don't feel that way, I think it's a very challenging album
It's a pretty weird album in general. The intro sounds like some radiohead s***
Agreed but idk if the more accessible tracks added to the album or took away. Tracks like that were amazing, my favorites are Crown and Mother I Sober
I go back and forth on the album, it is really good but I’m still not sure how good

He pushed even further than TPAB, it's gonna hit with the people that need it. Therapy is no joke
He really pushed even further
People don't get it yet

I feel like he added more digestible tracks because he was planning a big arena tour and still wanted songs from the album that could be played in that setting.
He already did an album that had no sort of commercial qualms about it with TPAB, and these days he usually only plays Alright and sometimes King Kinta.

The digestible songs are his perfectionism, he wants to make music "for everyone" like Drake
He wanted to make sure he hit all avenues of listeners
And he did it, successfully, but people had the same reception of a Drake album
He tried to do too much
The Big Steppers is even more personal than TPAB and GKMC
All his work is pretty personal but Morale got uncomfortably personal at times.
Finding things out like his cousin was accused of sexually touching him or that his mother was sexually abused in Chicago is heavy stuff.

Yup! Thats why people don't really fw it. Tyler spoke on this. Basically said that it made people uncomfortable and facing their own issues. It really is an incredible album

That’s fair
But did he need to go as far the other direction as the Kodak song? Like it just felt so empty compared to other tracks
It’s not my problem that he made accessible tracks, but I feel like he executed those type of songs better on DAMN. The title track and Purple Hearts, idk those are weak for Kendrick’s standards
It is the best album lyrically and message wise of the 20s though
Who is this @HeyFella guy he always has good takes

The measure of something that isn’t a success versus is a success is how it does in ticket sales to me
Morale got a divisive reception, but he sold out multiple shows on the tour. No problem selling tickets. And you could say that it was Kendrick, ofc people were going to buy tickets and yeah that’s true to a degree. BUT, Chance dropped The Big Day and had to cancel his entire tour over that s***. And you know he had to cancel it because he didn’t have an audience for his s***ty album.

That’s DAMN tbh. GOAT Steppers doesn’t sounds like he was radio-maxxing at all

Yup ppl will support Kendrick always
Used to gym with a bro from ATL and he said he wasn't feeling Mr Morale. About a month later he said it finally clicked for him.
Kendrick pushed further and alienated alot of people

And he’s correct in that assessment. People were expecting an Off Season type album after the 5 year hiatus and instead they got an album based around his therapeutic experiences. Not what they wanted or expected and treated it harshly as a result.
