Morale clearly was not an album meant to be technical and bar heavy like all of Coles recent work has. It was an album Kendrick created as therapeutic self expression. Much heavier emphasis on hard hitting content and developing the song structures around the content of each track.
And at the moment yeah Cole probably outrapping Kendrick. But he went that path after trying to do what did with his albums with 4YEO and KOD and not delivering on the same level

yes. i feel like not enough people have a nuanced opinion of it
it was very good (my favorite album of the year), and also a step down from GKMC-TPAB-Damn
people act like its trash or a classic. i know this is the internet in general but this album more than others has people on the extremes

mr morale is a very good album
It’s a great album. Not quite on the level of GKMC/TPAB for me, but it’s a bold entry in his discography that’s already getting more appreciation in retrospect by general audiences who didnt quite understand it upon release.
