I agree that new female artists get called plants a lot of the time. The artists you mentioned (aside from maybe Billie) seem to have had an organic rise to popularity. This tate girl feels especially different. It seems like half the internet is just now discovering who this person is and they already have 50 million spotify listeners. Unless she’s popular with pre-pubescent children in a country ive never heard of, idk how im just now seeing her name as someone who pays a decent amount of attention to online music discourse.

I mean yeah, but those are all industry plants as well. There were almost no organic mainstream artists back then. The internet changed all of that so now the industry plants really stick out.
