SOSBut they f***ing fumbled all of them when it came to promotion. SZA has had to rely on the momentum she’s built up the last couple of years and the roll of the dice when it came to how people received the album.
ScHoolboy Q next album is do is die for him. He needs to drop a GREAT album. He hasn’t had a great album since 2016 and he hasn’t had a great successful album since 2014.
Sza such an enigma. On paper SOS doesn’t make sense being so successful to me. Not that it’s bad but it’s such a wild mix of sounds I ain’t expect normal people to gravitate to

It makes you realize how involved Kendrick had been with Jay Rocks music up until now. That dude was selecting beats, writing hooks, hell he was even ghostwriting some verses. He was the reason Jay Rock dropped a solid 7/10 album in 2018.

All she really had to do was make good songs delivering the content a lot of her fanbase wanted and she was golden.
Unfortunately though I have this feeling that it’s gonna be a rough ride for her in a couple of years. The same fans that are clinging on to her every word now are going to move onto someone else and she will have to figure out how to adapt and evolve. Which she CAN do I think, but she’s not gonna be allowed the same 5 year grace period next time.

I could actually see her dropping a full fledged rap album in the future tbh
Seems like she was flirting with it on tracks like Low and Smoking On My Ex Pack and it might be the creative direction that keeps things fresh for her.
