Brian was truly the only real competition to Lennon/McCartney in the 60s
Bob better
yeah he tripped in the studio and then thought it was an interesting noise so he got the studio to mic up the piano and then recorded himself falling into it
you can listen to it on the smile boxset "brian falls into piano"
Imagine having access to footage of him during this era. Gold
Smile is an interesting example of challenging how much the artist's intention matters. like if something wasn't "finished", how much does it matter? if the shared motifs weren't intended, don't they still have the same effect as if they were?
its also kinda interesting to think of what if it came out in this state back in the day. like yeah an 'unfinished' state, but what if the actually version of an album did sound exactly like this. or what if there's a parallel universe where it was finished, but ended up worse than the unfinished version?
in a Bach class I took (and didnt pay attention) I remember learning about a major unfinished work of his that was basically a goated masterpiece anyway or something
the art of the fugue
one of the greatest keyboard works ever written
Everyone watches and goes "do they even still do that???"
that’s when I notice them, wave and say “Howdy-Ho neighbor!!”. they instantly panic and slam their door shut
will check this out when the album finishes. ty
i prefer the track ordering with Surf's Up at the end instead of Good Vibrations. i also really like all the tracks but for listening experience I prefer to leave Holidays out of it
Frenchpress and fumbling baddies
What a duo
It’s easier when I don’t try. I don’t know what lesson is imbedded in that fact but I will likely spend the next 10 years figuring it out
Big bob Dylan
Real music
Bob Dylan was a good writer but his voice was awful for the most part
The duality is stupid. I talked to the faculty girl earlier like I was Johnny bravo and then 10 minutes ago I roll up like Dexter
We have to fall low to recognize what it’s like to be high or some s***
Imagine having access to footage of him during this era. Gold
starting a f***ing bon fire in the studio and running around with kazoos while fire alarms go off >>>>>>>>>>
Bob Dylan was a good writer but his voice was awful for the most part
I disagree
i prefer the track ordering with Surf's Up at the end instead of Good Vibrations. i also really like all the tracks but for listening experience I prefer to leave Holidays out of it
yeah holidays might be weakest for me but hey its still really good
Bob Dylan was a good writer but his voice was awful for the most part
still put out comparable body of work in that time
in terms of influence and quality (imo)
whimsymaxxing
@Trouble @nort @YungPapi
Dylan or Wilson?
bob? man quit playing its Big Booty Brian
starting a f***ing bon fire in the studio and running around with kazoos while fire alarms go off >>>>>>>>>>
Smile is legit the greatest lore for an album ever
@Trouble @nort @YungPapi
Dylan or Wilson?
Knowing their taste they will say Wilson
But I'm definitely taking Dylan
Like it's not even close for me
@Trouble @nort @YungPapi
Dylan or Wilson?
Haven’t listens to enough Dylan so Wilson
this was the song where everyone knew brian lost his mind because they started a fire in the actual studio, wore fire helmets and were blowing slide whistles and kazoos for hours on end while the smoke alarm went off
