i think so too but i think you hear more of that after 1966 tbh
also might be worth mentioning that people didn't really distinguish between the two at the time IIRC, since they were all credited to lennon-mccartney people thought of all the songwriting as more collaborative than it actually was. like brians favorites are probably more paul songs but i feel that at the pet sounds/good vibrations era the attitude was more toward the beatles as a whole. like the biggest example being Rubber Soul as a whole work's influence on him
idk if its true but brian said he wasnt actually influenced by the beatles and only inspired by them
