She’s kind of an anomaly

R&B in general isn’t really in that great of a place but SZA just had that magic mix of right place, right time with the new album and also having the ability to crossover to a white audience. Which the majority of R&B acts struggle to do successfully without going completely pop.

Diamond Dogs was better on relisten and so was Young American’s. The only albums that have started basura and stayed basura for me are Alladdin and Lodger.

Bowie has one of the best Disco’s oat for me as far as I’ve heard. We get into uncharted territory for me Tuesday.

Sza came and went

Yeah Aladdin was disappointing after Ziggy but the tracks I did like off of it, I really did like. It’s just the shame the rest of it was so average.

I did NOT like Lodger at all man. That album stunk to my ears. Which is crazy because Low and Heroes were both incredible to me and in my top 3 so far.

She also has a mix of sounds on her album. You get banger’s like Low, lofi Kanye rap on smoking my ex, r&b anthems like snooze, light punk s***, indie alternative

She has a s*** ton of crossover appeal before even getting into the subject matter in the music

Nervous about the 80’s

there are still some nice rnb in this day and age!!

I’m intrigued to see what will happen with the next album. LANA will drop (Maybe lol) and it’ll obviously be an extension of the crossover sounds on SOS, but after that the pressure is gonna increase tend fold for her follow up. SOS will probably be her peak in terms of commercial success and audience appeal, but I think she can follow up that album with something quality. She just has the figure out the right balance which will be the hardest part.

SZA reminds me of Kelis so much. Sza’s era was just easier to be the kind of artist she is vs kelis’ era.

TDE somehow has the quality control to drop the best songs for her so I think somehow they’ll pull it off again. Hopefully we haven’t seen her peak

But I’m also in the camp of people who think CTRL > SOS as an album so what do I really know?

Not that I don’t like SOS, I do. It was a really good album that would’ve benefited from being cut down by 4-5 tracks or so.
