2014 was a transitional phase for pop becuz the early 2010s had the influence of guetta and bep and pitbull flo rida w the club music and people commonly cite lorde's Royals as a paradigm shift especially with the weird oddities in 2012 with we are young and somebody i used to know
by 2014 the club stuff went from light dubstep in 2012 to light general poppy edm. so you had people like ariana and taylor still churning out big pop hits but definitely with edm production elemnts to varying extents
i would say 2016 when rihanna work and drake controlla one dance stuff ran the airwaves is when the transition went more tropical
