Who is queen Jane though
Many theories
Could possibly refer to his ex but not directly by name
There's also multiple like actual queens thoughout history he could be referring to
Also could be marijuana, as throughout the song many of the lyrics sound like struggles or things he directly relates to and will then use marijuana to take his mind off them

I’m going with the third one because now I enjoy it even more with that theory

Bob Dylan did indeed enjoy the weed

Many of his lyrics can be abstract and indirect even if at the time he had a clear like idea in mind
He used to really speak against being seen as like a role model figure who's lyrics should be preached and followed like the Bible
So I don't think he would really support someone wanting a direct like explanation directly from him that is the correct one, id assume he would favor people interpreting them for themselves and accepting them as they are for them instead of looking for the correct way to interpret them
Also figuring them out and like the multiple meanings a lot of them can have is a lot of the fun

Yeah that’s kind of what I’ve always read about his music and it’s also what makes his discography seem so intimidating because you have to sit with it and digest every song and it’s very time consuming to do so

It's part of the appeal and enhances replayability to me
And like they are enjoyable just as songs as well not just as puzzles
So it's fun to listen
