Like a Camillimanethe musical genre is dead for sure, 4 of the highest grossing movies and acclaimed movies ever made in their decades (westside story, my fair lady, mary poppins, sound of music) were all musicals. the main reason musicals don't work anymore is because the music in musicals is F***ING GARBAGE, like legitimately 2/10 level bad
the music is meant to aid the story and develop the characters not be the backbone of the entire damn movie
