I tuned into the broadcast last second to see Billy Joel and see who was winning AOTY. So many people were convinced it would be SZA winning it when I said from Day 1 it was gonna be Taylor because this is the Grammys, and sure enough I was right

I believe that they do indeed have a diverse group of people voting, but a select old few call the shots and intervene on the final winner if felt necessary.
Industry politics made Taylor win last night. And I’m almost certain Jon Batitse won AOTY because someone like Kanye got the most votes and the academy refused to allow that to happen. Same group of people that were salty Weeknd chose to perform at the Super Bowl instead of the grammys and snubbed him for every single nomination.
Artists, especially black artists need to stop submitting their work and seeking that validation, because they’ll never get it from the current institution.
