as u know i was a big fan of drake's 2023 output, i think he had an incredible year between the album, SH3, search and rescue. it definitely elevated him upwards on my list. he would not have made the list in 2022. this is not to say i think 2023 was his best year or anything but that discog is really piling up in a good way

yea with drake and to a lesser extent kanye, it's hard to rank them because their artistic output is much more versatile than just being a "rapper". is kanye a better rapper than Rakim? not in the traditional definition. but that narrow definition doesnt really appeal to me. kanye is probably my favorite artist of all time, and he's a rapper. to not put him in the top 10 would be lame.

and i think drake has a similar thing going, not in the same sense of being a producer, but with his rap hybrid style

that's a whole nother question. cant even get into that tbh. but i can say kanye would be very high on the list.

drake is a genre bender so he's tough to categorize but i'm comfortable putting him in my top 10 rappers
