Like a Camillimaneyou're purposefully being dumb now because I'm only using that as an example to showcase she doesn't even write her own experiences so how could she be connected to the music she's singing, it's naturally going to be emotionless when it isn't from your heart
i promise im not tryna be disingenuous or anything
but i never thought a true connection to the words being sung was necessary for it to be “soulful”. I always interpreted that word as a style of singing

Mmm HmmAuthenticity and Soul go hand and hand
BUT
Even Master Class artists with Soul can sing a song that they didn't even write.
Beyonce can't sing a song written for her with soul or even ones that she writes.
So.....
She's literally just a robotic brand
i guess my question next is.. how can you soulfully sing a song that isnt yours?
