I've seen people say that it's anything older than 25 years
And I've seen other people say it describes more of like a sound and that most stuff after the 80s and like post grunge can't really be considered classic rock
But I'd say the 25 year thing works and if they wanna be more specific they can like just use subgenres to describe it
Oh, ive been thinking of it a little differently. So, for my job I gotta sort thru news stories right. When im working on music articles, I generally categorize rock music before ‘85 as classic rock.
Anything before 2015

sure, but I feel like the age of the music matters.

Popularity is just as important
There’s a reason classic rock stations play more R.E.M. from the ‘90s than the ‘80s

idk, just felt right. When I think about “classic rock” I think Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and at the latest Metallica and Queen.

That's what I meant kinda
Before the late 80s/early 90s
60s-80s rock music
Yep
Enter Sandman isn’t classic rock?
I guess 90s as well
Everything within the rock genre will become “classic rock” eventually

You including Metallica is my point about popularity and mentality over “age”

I made a similar point here @Uhhhhhh

I should also say, the way they want me to moderate things is going off what I think a “classic rock” station would play. I could see them playing Metallica.

If they aren’t going to bring anymore new cartoons to the table, might as well fill their channel with the classic catalog they have
if i were to moderate it in away that would appease most music nerds, my boss would probably correct me lol

Idk if you got the reference @ryder
