Definitely not. Half the girls in my freshman class were dating college dudes when they were 14-15. And on top of that, their parents were having those dudes over for dinner and s*** . It’s weird to think abouT now

It was happening even when I was in school like a decade ago. One girl matured like really fast compared to the rest of the middle school and was dating like a senior in 8th grade

i mean depending on the service i think there are still some benefits, but its mostly just an entertainment thing. like youtube for example

but i think almost everybody drastically underestimates the drawbacks. and ofc the people in charge of our government dont even know what an algorithm is because theyre fossils

Mostly agree with YouTube but even that can be a dangerous algorithm for the wrong minds and people who click “the wrong videos” ya know

We need to set age limits in government but that will never happen bc they cling to power til their last breathes

There’s good and bad within social media, I’ll say that

Moderation is key (and having a decent algorithm)

Honestly, it depends. The Chinese TikTok algorithm (in China) is designed to lead people purely to educational videos focused on science, engineering, etc.

    But in America, yeah

    yeah for sure

and its always just a balance of how powerful the algorithms are anyway. if im searching for an informative video, it is helpful to see the most useful results at the top

but increasingly we see more and more the usefulness of the search, related videos, etc. gets more and more polluted

we want useful algorithms in our internet in some capacity, they can be incredibly useful and powerful. but the big data environment where theyre powered so much by data they know about us ends up in tons of unintended consequences as well as helping goals that the users don't want/know about
