Imo the point is that his specific way of going about it wasn’t enough / the answer. The symbol is vengeance begets nothing but more negativity at the end of the movie he learns to loosen the f*** up a lil bc what he’s doing is inspiring madness and more crime
I think they’ll explore this more as the trilogy goes on but again juxtapose the beginning when he saves the guy at the trains - he is terrified of Batman and runs away. He inspires the riddler to “do the same thing” as him the riddler says “they’re the same” Batman is f***ed up by this at the beginning he also notes that crime is up despite his actions
Then we look at the end. S*** is f***ed by the little boy believes jn him which leads to everyone believing in him and him literally being the light in the dark leading them to safety (on the nose) then the scene with the helicopter right after. He sees that he needs to be more then vengeance to make a difference which I also took to mean he’s gonna need Bruce Wayne as a persona which he’s been neglecting for months at that point
@Camille am I crazy
i agree, i've been saying since 2023 that the next movie from a logical writing standpoint/narrative has to be him now embracing the mask and identity of bruce wayne, doing good there and using his position as the most rich man in gotham to continue to inspire and provide help to others
naturally most of the movie should be him coming to terms with being bruce wayne, like alfred says in the first movie he can't stay inside his manor all day, he has to be present
i thought an interesting arc if they did do fan service and cast mr freeze could be him having serious beef with bruce wayne because his wife was neglected treatment because bruce wayne was so absent and focused on being batman that his wife was left behind and now he has a vendetta against bruce but that might be too on the nose
OH YES
i remember thinking how they needed to contradict the motives of the riddler because he was kinda correct with his message but batman is supposed to be the hero so they decided hey lets just have riddler try to drown everyone for some reason
Tbh as dumb as it may sound what the riddler did was kinda realistic
How many Dt’s inflict damage on people of the same social status rather than go after the actual powers that be. It’s easier for them and we see it time and time again.
It’s poor writing but this riddler doesn’t seem like he’s supposed to be a genius either just a regular f***ed up terror loser idk

I don't see why it's unacceptable for the completely unhinged basement dwelling terrorist to do something a little misguided and foolish
god, do i need to rewatch this crap
I did for Halloween. It was literally on a Thursday so it was in sync with the movie

brian really went off the deep end after the smile sessions

that's the whole point, i think everyone is missing it
it's meant to be completely misguided because he's a f***ing psychopath with no rationale or actual morality
I think the key for having another super memorable Joker after Ledger would be to do something completely different from what’s expected.
Most people don’t remember, But Nicholson/Hamill was the Joker everyone expected and never deviated from and Heaths casting and interpretation was a risk. A lot of people were not on board initially, but it was a risk that paid off.
Phenoix was a step in the right direction but they obviously dropped the ball big time with the new movie.

I think nort thought the riddler was rad for the movie
Then realized hey that wasn't rad at the end
And he can't accept that maybe the guy was just never rad
that's the whole point, i think everyone is missing it

Society obsessed with picking movies apart but the more we discuss it the irrational nature of the riddlers actions make sense for the character as he’s written to be in the movie
The third act stuff in the arena you can still hate ofc

You’re on the money
rip victor is all I gotta say

yeah pacing still sucks and that arena scene specifically drags/plus that venom shot or whatever
just makes me roll my eyes

It’s a miracle he would come back in the future and be more present again with writing and producing

they're saying this is trump thanking his latino and black voters
batman getting rewritten to put sofia into the movie or because matt reeves has no idea what to do is a disaster
Maybe I should watch the penguin instead of being spoiled by own friends
You’re on the money
That's like what makes someone a villain
Like plenty of villains have a reason or something that happened in their life to fuel how they are behaving or how they feel
The way they go about handling it is bad though
The riddler isn't supposed to be good

I just watched s5e12 fucking f\*\*\* nooooo why f\*\*\*

it’s not really him f***ing up though. he devised a plan that contradicts the point he’s been making throughout the entire movie up to that moment.

sofia

what are you worrying about?? chrissy is gonna be fine

My point here is that is commonly what Terror**t do on a regular basis
They have manifestos about CEO’s or society then go kill a regular person
sofia
The mother from HIMYM
It’s a miracle he would come back in the future and be more present again with writing and producing
They’re coming to a town near me in a few months and lowkey I may go see them
I gotta imagine they sound awful tho
