at first, I thought it might have to do with a human trafficking ring with ties to hollywood but not sure though. anyways, I think Diane and Camilla were in a relationship, Diane got heartbroken when she announced her engagement with Director Adam, she puts out a hit to get her killed. I think the first 3 quarters of the movie is possibly a dream (?) where Diane (now Betty) reimagines her life as an actress beginning to thrive in hollywood on her own merits, Camilla (now Rita) is reliant on her, a stark contrast to their actual relationship, Adam is punished by having his wife cheat on him, the cowboy might possibly represent God or the Devil? Some arbiter of fate, maybe just the law itself, idk. The dead woman at Dianes apartment is in-fact Diane, representing her new life, reimagined as Betty. I think the scary dumpster lady could also represent the darkness of Diane/Betty. It’s why she had possession of the box, that led to the escape of her tiny parents (grandparents), who represent her guilt that then come to haunt Diane, resulting in her taking her own life. I’m not entirely sure whats up with Silencio? I’ve yet to piece that part together.. but thats what I got

I wondered if the blue box contained knockout gas, and thats why we found Betty remerge as Diane in that apartment, as shes been provided with a new backstory, similar to how Rita had lost her memory.

Overall you got a lot tho the Betty Rita stuff is completely correct based on most understandings of the movie. The dream. The guilt the jealousy the murder.
