Dude stopped caring about his songwriting. Good songwriting is such an important part of what transforms a song to greatness. Meandering for a minute or 2 and then doing a beat switch is not songwriting.

He was also just a better singer back then to. Like he's always used autotune (not a bad thing btw, damn near everybody does) but he would try with his melodies and incorporate some interesting runs and flows into his singing.
Now he just turns the autotune up all the way up and calls it a day. His new album got some of his worst autotune singing yet tbh.

Bahama Promises is one of the few ive heard in recent memory where he did try with his singing.
He did really well with his singing on this feature as well

Auto tune use on this album is the most egregious it has ever been man
like it sounds so bad that he should’ve just added more and used it as a tool instead of a prop
smoking and 0 vocal training caught up to just getting by off of having a unique voice

They’re more clever now.
topically/thematically/ etc etc is trash and inauthentic as hell. but if you wanna talk solely wordplay, he got better at it.
