I shed a few tears putting her down but nothing major. She went very, very quickly and it was the right thing to do.
When I got home afterwards and felt the hollowness, a presence that had been there for 15 years, now gone…that’s when I started sobbing. Sonofabitch that is easily the worst part. Her presence was a comfort even on bad days.
