this was the funniest part of the entire book and single best quote in the whole book, the mental image in my mind of the courtroom was killing me, the way he's like the veins in his forehead were bulging so much he had to put a stop to that pain and step forward and defend himself

idk if camus thought of it being deep or anything but i guess the sun and blinding light and heat is an allegorical example of the immediacy of the moment and literal "blinding" moment

Ok ill just add a very simplistic review of it since I didn’t think that in depth about it as I was reading it

I found the character’s lack of empathy to be quite jarring throughout the whole story and right until the end when he does become more expressive and reflecting a bit on his life I thought it would end up with him being pardoned as some sort of “that’s all it took” moment. But at the same time I liked his whole simplistic outlook on enjoying the little things he had going on in his life.

Aside from that the story was just alright. It didn’t leave me in amazement or anything but it wasn’t completely boring either
