Regardless, I don’t think an individual who does is deserving of death. Ideology isn’t an intrinsic choice. It arises from a set of factors and influences, and is more of a systemic issue than an individual decision. It’s been proven over and over again in psychological and thought experiments that people’s beliefs are not a conscious decision. And that they can be changed under the right circumstances.
Nobody, outside of sociopaths, is unsalvageable. And celebrating murder shouts a significantly poor understanding of the world.
I don’t support the cheering. My point was more about why adventurist political violence and it’s support occurres rather than if political violence is morally justified. Violent acts by the state lead to violent resistance. Also, why the target was a target and why adventurism doesn’t lead to anything good for the Resistance.
As far as moralism in politics goes. Nazi Germany & Fascist Italy were aggressor states, committing mass atrocities (e.g., the Holocaust, invasion of sovereign nations) and couldn’t be negotiated with due to their ideology. Peaceful change was impossible. The regime used violence to uphold injustice. To defeat them - there was necessary & defensive violence. Yes, the soldiers were manipulated by ideology and were victims in the grand scheme of things too but defeating them lead to a more peaceful world as a whole than before that. “Necessary” doesn’t mean “good” or “ideal” — just that given the conditions, violent struggle have been the only route to systemic change. These are the types of issues you can’t solve with being passive or expecting for a peaceful solution by conversation in good faith or whatever we imagine to happen - I mean yeah in an ideal world opposing sides would just talk it out like we do and issues are solved but the world doesn’t work that way unfortunately and people who are victims of imperialism feel it everyday. It’s easy to take moral high ground for us when it comes to that aspect.

I can genuinely understand the necessity of violence when responding to violence in certain situations, and like how it can seem crazy when people selectively moralize it
But there's a point where the celebration of it online comes across as more performative/sadistic than anything else
