Compared to Tony or even Ralph he was a super soft character
@nort I really appreciate you taking the time to chop it up on the mixing details
Can you do me one last favor and retype some of those notes as if you were telling another engineer how to implement those changes to the track? Some of the vocabulary you’re using, I’m not as familiar with. Although I do plan on using a good amount of your notes. Some of it will stay the same for artistic reasons, but some of the leveling and EQing will definitely change for sure.
@nort Like I’m at the point now in the mixing stage where I struggle to distinguish what exactly could be changed from a mixing POV and I will struggle to communicate some of that to my engineer
For example, you say that the first half of track 2 struggles with sounding to “muddy”. Ok fair enough. But I don’t really know how to explicitly fix that.
Well yeah he wasn't involved in much drama that would be very entertaining for the show because he focused on his work and performed well at his tasks
Until it was revealed he was gay which made for interesting drama for the show
Right I mean I get it, it just wasn’t interesting
The Mafia is primarily about making money
Vito was the best at that
And he had a close relationship with new York like I said
He would have been a pretty good choice for taking Tony's spot even if he didn't initially make for good television
Right I mean I get it, it just wasn’t interesting
Well he wasn't very interesting until it introduced the concept of how the Mafia reacted to finding out one of their top earners was gay
Which was kinda interesting and the first time the show explored that
I would feel differently if they abandoned the rest of the show and focused strictly on Vito going and being gay
But it directly involved the core plot and was impactful towards how the show went and there was still other stuff going on
@KodakSpice Covid spice. Korok spice. Give these a consideration

Those first 6 episodes devoted a lot of time to it where I’d have preferred to focus on one of the more interesting characters
Again, I think back then, when homophobia was rampant in the mainstream, it was a powerful way to address it, but now that it no longer is it doesn’t hold up to me

I personally, in modern times, am still not involved in the Mafia and can't say for certain how they would react to gay people in 2025
So it was still pretty interesting to me

I mean I think many people watching the show back then would be as homophobic as the mafia and the point was to show those people how tragic homophobia could be. Whereas now, most people watching it are on Vito’s side
It has less to do with the mafia and more to do with the viewer

I'm not so sure that the mainstream opinion on gay people was that they should be brutally beaten to death in 2006
But I was also 7 so I could be wrong

Same s***marriage was only legalized in 2015. The 2000s were super homophobic
As crazy as it sounds, same s***sex was only legalized in the 2000s

I didn't really take what the show was going with it as a like woke message to show the evils of homophobia anyway
I think it was just topical and an interesting idea they hadn't explored yet
So like the idea of homophobia being less of a mainstream view didn't really impact the way I view the story

I mean yeah because you’re watching it now but I think if the show was written today, that plot line would either not exist or he would be a trans person or something
