Yeah, no I disagree, I think that’s a major misnomer. I hate the “it’s just their culture” defense. We have examples, both historical and modern (I.e. Indonesia, Malaysia) that are Islamic countries but don’t participate in widespread human rights violations. Most people who practice Islam disagree wholeheartedly with these violations.

Religious fundamentalism, on the other hand, such as in the current Iranian regime or current Israeli regime has always been a cancer on its people and the earth. Many examples of Christian fundamentalism we can obviously point to as well.
