I would never deny his talent, skill or his ability to make good music. I am a fan and I respect him.
It’s just, he’s probably gonna make music that’s inspired by a different era and that’s ok. Not all great artists need to be innovative.
I don’t find 24k to be extremely derivative tbh haven’t played it in full but there’s good and bad ways to pay homage. His sounds like there’s genuine effort in making it to some extent his own rather than coasting on old melodies or laziness

24K Magic is definitely a homage album man. It’s a giant tribute to 90s New Jack Swing & R&B vs the 70s soul tribute like SS was.
It was just executed better than SS was overall. Had more energy in places where SS lacked.

I was telling Bmass a week or two ago I could get dropped in a Spanish speaking country and be fine. I’d struggle fs but I could get by. My biggest issue really is speaking more than anything else
