Like I’m not saying make all legal documents Spanish or whatever. Im saying have a real comprehensive language program for a second language in school. I’d choose Spanish bc of its prevalence in the states
theres a lot of people who are bilingual at home or speak a separate language at home
forcing them to do it would be kinda lame
it's also required for people to try to take some language to get experience with it and see if it's for them
IMO the issue is with how academia teaches rather than the extensiveness of stuff

it's weird when you're in that environment tbh
I was at a party and someone asked me how my spanish was going
and I had to double check with my gf if it was spanish or not
edit: I understood what was being said to me but didnt really register what language it was

I think bc we’re like listening so hard for the Spanish part we just assume the English parts are some random Spanish word we haven’t heard

language learning in how it is executed hasnt changed for like 30+ years ( more but I forgot the date)

which is why krashen started publishing stuff for free
