On abbey road he is the only one with no shoes which symbolizes that Paul is a corpse

Watch the Get Back miniseries. It’s directed by Peter Jackson who took over 50+ hours of footage and made it into a 6 hour 3 episode miniseries
It is brilliant and a great look at The Beatles at how they were.

He died in a car accident in 1966 then MI5 had them replace him with a look alike (Billy shears) because they didn't know how the fans would react to the news that Paul had died since they were so huge at the time
