it is largely a phenomenon among middle class white americans on the east coast
there are a few non white musicians like Allman Brothers drummer, like half of Dave Matthews Band (who are occasionally jam band). and some others just due to the jazz world crossover
but those concerts are basically the whitest rock concerts i go to crowd-wise lol
