Which even me I’ve noticed I understand more Portuguese than I thought just from DS and I can read enough to follow along decently well
Port would definitely take significantly less time for me to learn auditory wise than Spanish did
idea of mutual intelligibility so crazy to me
too bad english comes from an island we dont get that with anyone basically besides very obscure british languages apparently

fuegoWorked with a few Brazilian people in my career and tried to learn Portuguese a couple times as a result but never stuck with it.
the vowel sounds (and some other sounds like their R) seem kinda hard at least compared to spanish but i dont know much about it. and english has ton of vowel sounds anyway

But she could speak to and understand Spanish speaking people
