No sé en qué momento dejó de ser un hombre común. Al principio solo lo veía de lejos, como cualquiera en el barrio. Pero después empecé a notar que siempre estaba cerca cuando algo malo pasaba, como si llegara después del ruido… nunca antes.

La primera vez que lo vi de verdad, no estaba corriendo ni gritando nadie todavía. Solo estaba él, parado, mirándome como si ya supiera cómo iba a terminar todo.

Desde entonces entendí que no le interesaba la prisa. Le interesaba el momento en que uno se da cuenta de que ya es tarde.
