so good man i loved it
i could do a lot of cool stuff. i joined when i was like 10 to get over my fear of heights and within a year i was doing 30 foot high dives
it changed my life really, gave me confidence as a kid to overcome fear.
i used to do a front flip on the spot for a dollar in middle and high school and use the money to buy energy drinks at lunch.

amazing.
what metrics are they grading you on? how do you win? I guess if you miss the water you lose automatically but other than that Im guessing its about your form.. or something?

yes its like gymnastic, figure skating or boxing. there are judges and they give you a score out of ten
the criteria is if your legs are straight, toes pointed, the hurdle (lead up to the jump) on the diving board is proper and most importantly how little of a splash you make.
if you do a dive perfect it’s called a rip and there is literally no splash, you slip stream through the water.
if youre doing synchronized obviously how well you line up matters too. but i never did much synchro.
i mostly competed on 1, 3 and 5 meters diving boards
(3, 9 and 15 feet)

did you ever make it rip
just tapped into hantavirus discourse and yeah i dont like this one bit
did you ever make it rip
oh yeah for sure!
mostly on easier dives though.
dives all have a difficulty multiplier applied to the judges score. so if youre doing a triple backflip it woudl be an idk 3.2X but a regular pike dive (where you dive and touch your toes without bending your knees in straight air) is like a 0.7X
ive gotten rips on easier ones!

oh ya you gotta do flips too, right? must be hard to end a flip perfectly perpendicular to the water
oh ya you gotta do flips too, right? must be hard to end a flip perfectly perpendicular to the water
oh yeah most of it was flips.
front doubles, inverse flips, flips with spins during them at the same time, reverse flips, 1 and a halves (where you land in a dive instead of on your feet)
it was like 70% flips
it is hard but its strange when youre in the air its like you leave u body for a second and time slows down and you get very good at your spatial awareness and timing. its very trippy.
when you kick out of a flip to stop the spin properly, you will like stop in midair wherever you are. so u gotta get that timing right so youre 90 degrees when u pop out
New charli is great . I always think my gay friends might be straight . Or sometiems i think my straight friends might be gay and play with me during my sleep

you said u swam! i also was into swimming.
not competively but i took it seriously since when u dive its in deep water and you cna hurt yourself pretty good (like wipeouts and stuff) and you gotta know how to swim out with a bruised leg or back or soemthing.
