they're the same imo maybe slightly less just because streaming has all the malls/public venues that loop the same playlist 24/7 every hour without stopping

whereas radio just circle the same 10 songs but throughout a day/week

thats true actually i never thought about how much getting on these playlists influence the numbers.

like obviously youre getting a huge boost

but those looping brick and mortars for sure change it

pretty much and nobody cares about global stats

random third world countries where stans manipulate streams mean absolutely nothing

    hmmm

  • to be honest it all sounds like a farce to a large extent

its like the music equivalent of fine art at sotheby’s being used for tax evasion ot inflate its price

    it is

a song like ni**as in paris was more of a hit/cultural stable than almost every top 1 rap hit in the 2010s and yet it never hit the top 50 lol

    the charts are all garbage

if u pull any random year and pick a month/week and peep the top 20 you'll know a couple songs and the rest is s*** nobody remembers/knows

    that is completely true.

the cultural influence of songs is not found in the numbers at all.

Yeah imagine how many genuinely massive late 2000s-early 2010s rap hits would've hit the top 10 in the streaming age
